How the EndoBarrier® Works
The EndoBarrier® is a thin, flexible, tube-shaped liner that forms a barrier between the food you eat and a portion of the wall of your intestine.
Placing the EndoBarrier® is a procedure that doesn’t require any surgery or incisions. Your doctor will attach the EndoBarrier® to just below your stomach (called the duodenal bulb). The EndoBarrier® will then extend approximately 60cm through parts of your digestive system called the duodenum and proximal jejunum. Once in place, the EndoBarrier® will change the way your body responds to food and will lead to controlled diabetes and increased weight loss.
When the time comes for removal, your doctor can retrieve the EndoBarrier® via an endoscopic procedure without any permanent surgical consequences to your body.
